ON LYING, THIEVING, AND MURDERING COMBINED (July 17, 2015)
If humans are born liars, born thieves, and born murderers all at once, how can any sort of social order ever work? How does lying, thieving, and murdering work together to the advantage of some and disadvantage of most others, albeit in a sustainable fashion? It is the interplay of these criminal activities that makes all the difference. By itself, lying is neither here nor there. A mere thief will be caught sooner or later, but a thief skilled in lying may be quite successful in social terms. Rockefeller is a good example. The same holds for a murderer skilled in lying. Hitler is a fine example. But a murderer skilled in both thieving and lying comes on top. Stalin is a useful example. By themselves, lying, thieving, and murdering will not have a bright future, but it is quite different when they are properly combined. Entire social orders can be founded on the interplay of these criminal activities rooted in the human species. This holds for all social orders ever attempted, including capitalism. But the first precondition for their success is to adamantly deny that humans are born liars, born thieves, and born murderers all at once. The stronger and more persuasive the denial, the more stable and persevering the social order. America is a perfect example. And lying, thieving, and murdering combined can go on and on unhampered.
