MY CALENDAR (September 11, 2015)

Decades ago, I got into the habit of putting everything I needed to do into my calendar. Absolutely everything. The first thing I would do each and every morning was to check my calendar. Whatever came first, I did first. And without thinking. The chore behind me, I would erase it from the calendar, and go to the next chore. The habit is still with me long after my daily chores have dwindled to a trickle at best. I just went through the calendar to see what was in store the next few days. And I was surprised by the simplicity of it all. Here it is in the simplest possible words:

Pay bills every month

Pay health insurance every month

Pay income tax every month

Go for tooth checkup and cleaning every quarter

Order heating oil every year

Replace batteries in thermostat every year

Order firewood every two years

Renew debit cards every three years

Renew British passport every ten years

Renew Residua domain name every ten years

The above ten chores repeat indefinitely in my calendar, which currently goes all the way to 2022. The dates are irrelevant in this regard. Now, I paid my bills and my health insurance a couple of days ago. At the same time, I got my heating oil for the year. Today I paid my income tax and set up an appointment with my dentist, whom I will visit a couple of days from now. In a couple of days, I will also go to the British embassy in Zagreb to renew my passport, but today I got the photographs required. When I return to Motovun, I will order firewood. And so on, and so forth. My calendar says it all.
