HOMAGE TO YOGI BERRA (September 23, 2015)
Lawrence Berra, known to all as Yogi Berra, died yesterday. One of the greatest baseball players of all times, he was ninety. Unexpectedly, the news makes me cringe a bit. His paradoxical sayings have been dear to me for years. “You can observe a lot by watching,” I remember fondly. “If the world was perfect, it wouldn’t be,” I also remember with a smile. But another one of his sayings is closest to me heart: “The future ain’t what it used to be.” After him, this is certainly the case. Actually not a yogi, he was one of the greatest ones.
