Thus a large sign in purple lettering on an orange T-shirt worn by a lanky boy in his early teens. I almost laughed out loud when I spotted the sign. The American bravado is reaching Croatia at a clip. The very notion of winning in this country is laughable, though. With the exception of entertainment and sports, where a bunch of so-called celebrities do pretty well, the boy is here to lose. Scratching a living is the name of the game for the vast majority. But the T-shirt is ludicrous even in America today. There, only the bravado is thriving still. Its days are numbered, though. America is in its dotage already, and it will soon join Europe on the sidelines of world affairs. Winning and losing will move on to countries like China and India, where the T-shirt was most likely made.
