FEELING ANCIENT (September 15, 2015)

The prostate scare hit me a few days ago. Yesterday, my dentist pulled out yet another tooth of mine, the third in the last few years. My bones have been creaking all these days on account of the changing weather. And my psoriasis is coming back for the same reason. As ever, it is combined with arthritis, which affects my fingers. Regardless of the weather, my sinuses are in dire shape, as they have been for several years already. In addition, I am going to renew my passport at the British embassy in Zagreb today. The bureaucratic hassle annoys me no end, and I wonder whether I will be able to deal with it in ten years, when my passport will expire again. On top of all this, I am trying to figure out what to do with Lloyds Bank in Britain, which refuses to send me the debit card tied to my current account because of all sorts of problems they have had with Croatia lately. There are several other hassles of this kind that will be facing me soon, it goes without saying. But how long will I be able to deal with all this crap, I wonder? Feeling ancient, I walk around the center of the Croatian capital in hope for a clue. “No problem,” I mutter to myself at some point and crack a smile. “Just don’t get old!” I shake my head and pick up my pace. After a short while, I head for one of my favorite watering holes. That was the clue I was looking for!
