CHEERS, MS. ZHAO! (August 26, 2015)
A woman who downed a whole bottle of cognac at Beijing airport is in the news. On her way from America, where she bought a bottle of Rémy Martin at the airport, to Wenzhou in China, she was stopped at security control. Liquids were not allowed on domestic flights, but the cognac was too expensive to leave behind. Having downed the bottle, she was denied access to the plane because she was inebriated. She started shouting in front of the closing departure gate before collapsing. And then she kept shouting as she rolled on the ground. In the end, she was taken to the airport lounge in a wheelchair, where the airport’s medical staff assisted her. She woke up seven hours later, and thanked everyone for the help she had received. By then, her family was already at the airport to escort her home. Named only as Zhao, the woman is a celebrity by now. Sooner or later, Rémy Martin is sure to handsomely reward her for her brave stand. Wasting a bottle of the fabulous drink is a horror in its own right. Cheers, Ms. Zhao! All the cognac lovers in the world are behind you.
