CENTRAL HEATING (August 12, 2015)

As usual, I went to Marko’s early this evening. It was still hot, and a cold drink with a couple of friends felt just right. As soon as I returned home, I went upstairs to open the windows and shutters in the bedroom and study. After a sunny day, the house needed cooling down. It was piping hot. Before I went downstairs to do the same in the livingroom, I went to the bathroom to pee. I was sweating as I was peeing. And then I caught myself reaching mechanically for the nearby radiator to check how hot it was. It felt like the central heating was on. Actually, it felt like it was working full blast, as though it was a freezing night in the middle of winter. Having realized what had happened, I shook my head in awe and grinned to myself. My mechanical movement tells a lot about today’s heat. I do not remember anything like this happening any summer since I moved to Motovun twelve years ago, and I arrived in the middle of the summer. Central heating gone berserk…
