BATTLING WITH BUREAUCRATS (August 28, 2015)

Most of my day went to battling with bureaucrats of this world. First I battled with them in my bank in Britain. Then I battled with them in the Croatian Customs Office. And finally I battled with them in the Social Security Administration in the States. By now, I am thoroughly exhausted. Actually, pooped. The day has been harrowing, indeed. But I shudder at all the battles with bureaucrats I am yet to face. There are untold millions of them, and their ranks are swelling by the day. In just a few years, there will be billions of them. And I am not getting any younger, either. How will I manage all the battles with bureaucrats ten years from now? Or twenty years, perhaps? Gosh! Battling with bureaucrats has never been my forte, but the future is no less than dire. As of late, the battles can be fought only on the phone, which is the communication technology I have never mastered to my satisfaction. Even more, I have eschewed it with passion to this day. Sooner or later, the bureaucrats are liable to get the better of me. I will be losing ever more battles. Worse, I will get clobbered more and more often. Until I eventually capitulate for good…
