A BOGUS WINTER (December 6, 2015)

Central Zagreb is in its Christmas garb. Many a fir-tree is covered with fake snow. As good old seasons are gone already, the city has opted for a bogus winter.

Addendum (January 3, 2016)

It has been snowing since yesterday afternoon. The Croatian capital is clothed in white this morning. Bogus no longer, the winter is a joy to behold. But the fir-trees that once looked pretty convincing with the sprinkling of fake snow all over them now look outright pitiful. Long dead, their branches are sagging improbably under real snow. If it keeps snowing for a few more days, as the good meteorologists promise with fanfare, the fir-trees will collapse under the unexpected weight. This would be an appropriate revenge of the real winter for the show mounted only a month ago.
