“THE NEW POPULATION PROBLEM: TOO FEW PEOPLE” (November 23, 2015)

Thus The Wall Street Journal today. “Previous generations feared a population explosion, but for today’s global economy, the problem is just the opposite,” elaborates the newspaper. “Falling fertility rates and aging workforces will plague the developed world. The race is on for innovative solutions.” Coming at the time when the developed world is plagued by migrants of all descriptions, this article at first appears as a joke. In short, no innovative solutions are needed. Millions of young people are at the borders of both Europe and North America already. They are ready to work, as well as to reproduce at a clip. If any innovative solutions are needed, they should concern the acceptance of these people by the aging populations in the developed world. Psychiatry seems to be the best trick on offer. And the pharmaceutical industry is always on the ready with sedatives galore. With some luck, migrants from Asia, Africa, and South America will be accepted at last.
