“Birdman” is in the news. The movie won Oscars for the best picture, best director, best screenplay, and best cinematography. Wow! Alejandro González Iñárritu’s satire about an ageing movie star trying to reinvent himself as a Broadway actor is quite a splash. Now I know which movie to avoid like the plague this year and beyond. Had I not been so well informed, I might have seen it purely by chance. Perish the thought.
