If you read in expectation of a miracle, you should know that I write with the same expectation, but you should nevertheless provisionally consider that very fact, my expectation and yours, as the miracle in question. You should at least be prepared to settle for this possibility, for you must admit, just as I am willing to admit, that this may indeed be all that there is to the expectations we appear to share. After all, this is not such a bad outcome to the puzzle: it will keep us going indefinitely, our premonitions notwithstanding. A miracle!
