HOMAGE TO ASHBY (March 3, 1980)

The claim that the infinite variety of the uncertain future can be matched only by conscious and purposive application of the infinite variety of randomization procedures is reminiscent of Ashby’s Law of Requisite Variety extended to its limits: the variety of the controlled must be matched by the variety of the controller.[1]
