TO EXPLAIN THE JOKE (March 27, 2025)

Having spent a while browsing through my own writings, I have noticed that quite a number of my haiku of a hundred and sixty characters, including spaces, are extended by addenda as of late. And I feel kind of cross with myself on account of my inclination to explain the joke, as it were. Who cares if some visitors to my Residua website are confused about my intentions? After all, my magnum opus is for the few and far between! To my surprise, though, it has just crossed my mind that the apparent surplus of addenda may be for my own use. I am getting ever longer in the tooth, and I may eventually get confused as I browse through my own writings. Containing about thirty words, some of my haiku are kind of crafty, as well. Having ventured so far in my ”explanation” of my irksome inclination, I almost laughed at my ingenuity. One way or another, I always find a way around my foibles, of which there must be quite a few. Whence this particular piece of writing, as well. To explain the joke all the way to the grave!
